HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 18

Requesting United States Senator Robert C. Byrd, United States Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, and United States Congressman Robert Wise to intercede with the United States Park Service to ensure that the train station at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, remains open and available to the public.

Whereas, There is speculation that the United States Park Service is considering a plan to move the train station at Harpers Ferry; and

Whereas, The train station at Harpers Ferry serves a large number of citizens of this State and any change in location would seriously impact these citizens; and
Whereas, The train station at Harpers Ferry offers public transportation to a large segment of the population of the eastern panhandle of this State thereby reducing energy consumption and helping to reduce this nation's reliance on foreign oil; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That United States Senator Robert C. Byrd, United States Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, and United States Congressman Robert Wise are hereby requested to intercede with the United States Park Service to ensure that the train station at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, remains open and available to the public; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates be hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to United States Senator Robert C. Byrd, United States Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, and United States Congressman Robert Wise.
